Through the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF), we support families while parents and guardians work, pursue education, or participate in job training.

Have questions about child care assistance? Explore answers to some of the most common questions we receive from families.
01 I’m a foster parent of a Native American child. Can my non-Native foster children qualify for childcare assistance?
Yes. Non-Native foster children may qualify for assistance if they live in a household with a member of a federally recognized tribe. This means eligible foster children can receive childcare assistance even if they are not enrolled tribal members themselves, provided the household continues to meet program requirements.
02 I’m a single parent attending school, but I’m not currently working. I also receive Medicaid and SNAP (food stamps). Can I qualify?
Yes! You do not have to be employed to qualify for our program. Attending school is an eligible activity, and receiving Medicaid or SNAP does not disqualify you.
Our program uses categorical eligibility rather than income limits to determine eligibility. As long as your household includes a member of a federally recognized tribe and meets the other program requirements, you may qualify for childcare assistance.
03 My children are enrolled in your program, and my sister will be staying with me temporarily. Can she apply for assistance too?
Yes. Your sister may apply for childcare assistance while living with you. To qualify, she or one of her children must be a member of a federally recognized tribe, and her family must meet the program’s other eligibility requirements.
04 My spouse and I both work and earn a good income. Can we still qualify for childcare assistance?
Yes! Our program does not have an income limit for eligibility. Families may qualify regardless of how much they earn, provided they meet the other program requirements.
However, your household income may affect your monthly parent copayment. Families with higher incomes may be responsible for a higher copayment based on our Sliding Fee Scale.
05 Can I use your childcare assistance program for summer camp only?
Yes! Childcare assistance may be available for summer camps and seasonal programs. The camp or program must be willing to accept third-party payments and meet applicable provider requirements.
